Flawed Designs strives to bridge the gaps between disparate media, and find new ways to communicate the human experience.
We work in various genres and mediums with a core of finding real human emotions in surreal situations. We have focused on showing the audience themselves within our art and giving them respite from their troubles, if only for a short time. In the future we hope to surpass this goal and inspire them to overcome their adversities, the difference between giving a person a fish and teaching them how to fish. |

Flawed Designs was created in 2011 by artists Robin Careless and Jeff Ghadban.
They started their artistic collaboration in 2008, when Robin roped Jeff into a supporting role in a short film that he was making. Soon after they collaborated again in the Ottawa theatre scene, spearheading Canada’s longest running shadowcast of the cult-classic movie Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008). Their urge to tell interesting stories and connect people grew alongside a love of visual and digital media, officially culminating in the creation of Flawed Designs. In 2016, Robin met Dale Mulligan through a mutual friend, and they developed an ongoing writing partnership, with the duo having collaborated on several of the recent and upcoming Flawed Designs projects, both in long and short form. Today, Robin Careless is a Toronto-based writer and director who predominantly focuses on genre work, trying to find realistic reactions in unrealistic situations. Jeff Ghadban is a Montreal-based video game developer with a passion for whimsy, he predominantly specializes in games for children and youth. Dale Mulligan is a Toronto-based writer, who seeks to find the humanity in unusual scenarios. In collaboration with like-minded artists, Flawed Designs has produced one video game, a feature film and five short films. |
